Technology Design & Implementation Specialist
 

Will design and develop new technology, product changes, enhancements and test methodologies for existing ophthalmic and optometric medical devices, including TearScience LipiView, LipiScan and LipiFlow system. Performs on-site technology workflow analysis to understand and optimize technology utilization by the physicians, management and staff. Gathers requirements, convert those requirements from high level to low level and create FSD (Function System Diagram). Liaises routinely with the supervisor to communicate and troubleshoot the design of the new and existing technology. Regularly makes presentations, Design Reviews, and updates to management regarding project or product development status.  Implements, installs, configures and modifies new technology and enhancements to ophthalmic and optometric medical devices and tests their performance. Provides on-site training of physician and staff members during the operational and application phase of new and existing technology.  Analyzes usage of technology in Oracle.
 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
•BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely-related engineering degree field (e.g. Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering).
•Two years of post-bachelor’s degree Sales Engineering or Field Support Engineering experience in the medical device industry.
•Sales Engineering or Field Support Engineering experience, which may have been gained concurrently, must be in embedded systems and include the following:

-Two years of experience programming in C, C++ and QT;
-Two years of experience in Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Visio;
-One year of experience working with Electronic Health Record/ Electronic Medical Records (EHR/EMR) Systems and TCP/IP to integrate medical devices on various networks;
-One year of experience in the implementation of TearScience LipiView, LipiScan and LipiFlow system to ophthalmology/optometric practices;
-One year of experience developing medical device training materials and delivering training to physicians and staff in a clinical practice setting;
-One year of experience working with Oracle to handle and analyze raw data for statistical use; and
-One year of experience with a new medical device product launch.

Must be willing to travel nationally up to 30% to customers’ sites for product demonstration, implementation, support and training and for trade shows.
